CAROL MAGUIRE
Carol Maguire holds a Bachelor’s in Art History from Fairfield University and the Sorbonne, she has furthered her studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Barnes Foundation, and Fleisher Memorial. Her passion results in painterly works saturated with color and joie de vivre. Inspired by a love for color, textiles, and gardening, her work focuses on objects that surround her daily life.
Maguire has been painting full time and showing her work since 2001. She has shared her artistic skills with indigenous women in India, Peru, Romania, Guatemala and Honduras. She has worked as a consultant for the State Department where Maguire’s special skills involved identifying the materials available and the skills of the artisans and blending them to design a program of products to make. She now teaches paintings workshops in Mexico, the Bahamas, Tuscany and at her home outside of Philadelphia.
Prior to her full-time painting, Carol was the design director of a high-end doll company, she has taught doll making in the Transylvanian Alps and in the Andes of Peru. Carol’s quilt designs have been featured in books and magazines for Better Homes and Gardens and she has designed dinnerware for Waterford-Wedgewood and Lenox China.
“I am fascinated by the patterns created by the light and driven to capture that moment in time.”
