Elizabeth Brandon
“Elizabeth Brandon’s art is a fulfilling and refreshing expression of the human spirit alive in its passion and inspired in its intention to bring out the extraordinary in the ordinary simplicities of life.” – Joseph Sulkowski, artist
Working in her Nashville, Tennessee studio primarily as a still life artist, Elizabeth Brandon finds inspiration in the infinite ways light defines form. Under the tutelage of Frank Mason at the Art Students League of New York from 1974-1979, Elizabeth acquired her knowledge as well as acute appreciation for quality painting and material preparation. From making her own canvases to preparing rag paper for drawings, she has held true to the notion that the best possible materials make a work of art permanent and true to its original creation. Only hand-ground paints and time tested oils are used in her paintings.
Elizabeth has won several prestigious awards and is a lifetime member of the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club of New York. “Inspirations from the Garden,” a collection of original oils by Brandon for the covers of Cook’s Illustrated were exhibited last year in Carmel, California.
