Carol Maguire
Carol Maguire is one of the featured artists from May 3 to June 5. Please visit the Current Exhibition link to the right.
I am in constant search for an image that best reflects my creative voice, an image that matches my emotional and spiritual journey, always seeking the perfect balance of light and color. I am fascinated by the patterns created by the light and driven to capture that moment in time. Why do I paint? It’s my creative voice, an expression of my outlook on life. I paint to capture a moment in my life . . . through my eyes.
Carol has a BA in Art History and has furthered her studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Sorbonne, the Barnes Foundation, and the Fleisher Art Memorial. Her passion results in painterly works saturated with color and joie de vivre. Inspired by a love for color, china, textiles, and gardening, her work focuses on objects that surround her daily life–family treasures, gifts from friends and garage sale finds are all in combination with nature’s glorious fruits and flowers.
Maguire has traveled extensively to India, Peru, Romania, Guatemala, and Honduras, exchanging ideas about art with the indigenous people of those countries. She now teaches painting workshops in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico two or three times a year.
Prior to her painting career, Carol spent her early years as a quilter, furniture designer and dinnerware designer for Lennox China under the Dansk and Kate Spade brands. She now paintings full time and is represented by galleries in Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Martha’s Vineyard.
